Pseudonym of Evgeny Katayev, Soviet humorist who created a number of brilliant satirical works in a collaboration with Ilya Ilf. Author of novels "Dvenadtsat' stulyev" ("The Twelve Chairs" known in the West Europe as a UK movie) and "Zolotoy telyonok" ("The Little Golden Calf"). Born in Odessa, lived in Odessa and Moscow.
