Oil could be pumped via Odesa-Brody pipeline this year

Mr Bohdan Sokolovskiy, Ukrainian presidential commissioner for international energy security issues, said that Ukraine could start pumping Caspian oil from the Black Sea coast to Slovakia via the Odessa Brody oil pipeline as early as this year. State Property Fund of Ukraine chief Valentyna Semeniuk-Samsonenko met today with representatives of companies that were the potential investors of the Odessa Pre-Port Plant. Russia's LUKOIL opens Odessa refinery after upgrade

LUKOIL, Russia's second-largest oil producer, has completed a three-year upgrade of its Odessa refinery, which will help the firm to raise output of high-quality oil products, it said on Friday. LUKOIL said in a statement it had modernised one of the plant's crude distillation units, increasing its annual capacity to 2.8 million tonnes from 2.4 million, while the second such unit was put out of operation. Odessa Baby Food Cannery installed a new line for the production of baby food in "Tetra Pak" packs. Deaths in helicopter crash near Odessa

Twelve people aboard a Ukrainian border guard helicopter that crashed in the Black Sea region have been killed, emergency officials say. One person was critically injured in Thursday's incident. According to Ihor Krol, a spokesman for the emergency situations ministry, the Mi-8 helicopter was carrying a crew of three and 10 passengers from Odessa when it crashed into shallow waters near Poludenniy Island just before noon. Ukraine says Odessa refinery to start output by April

Ukraine's Odessa oil refinery, owned by Russai's second-largest oil firm LUKOIL, is likely to resume output by April 2008 after a 3-year upgrade, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Prodan said on Tuesday.
