Oil could be pumped via Odesa-Brody pipeline this year

Mr Bohdan Sokolovskiy, Ukrainian presidential commissioner for international energy security issues, said that Ukraine could start pumping Caspian oil from the Black Sea coast to Slovakia via the Odessa Brody oil pipeline as early as this year.
Mr Sokolovskiy told foreign ambassadors accredited in Ukraine recently that "very little remains to be done some trifles before we show to the whole of Europe and to the world that we can in practice pump from 7 million to 9 million tonnes of oil this year via the Odessa Brody-Slovakia-Czech Republic pipeline."

Semeniuk-Samsonenko apologized to potential investors of Odessa Pre-Port Plant

State Property Fund of Ukraine chief Valentyna Semeniuk-Samsonenko met today with representatives of companies that were the potential investors of the Odessa Pre-Port Plant. She apologized to them for canceling the contest on the sale of this enterprise’s control share holding. She also called on investors to turn attention to other objects, which are put for sale by the State Property Fund as of today.

Russia's LUKOIL opens Odessa refinery after upgrade

LUKOIL, Russia's second-largest oil producer, has completed a three-year upgrade of its Odessa refinery, which will help the firm to raise output of high-quality oil products, it said on Friday.
LUKOIL said in a statement it had modernised one of the plant's crude distillation units, increasing its annual capacity to 2.8 million tonnes from 2.4 million, while the second such unit was put out of operation.
The modernisation, which also included upgrading a hydrotreatment unit and building a visbreaking unit, will allow LUKOIL to increase refining depth to 78 percent from 56.. [+]

Odessa Baby Food Cannery installed a new line for the production of baby food in "Tetra Pak" packs.
According to the provided information, the new line for baby-food juice and puree production on the basis of natural fruits and vegetables, and also the juices in 0.2 L packs has been installed on the cannery's production facility in the village Stepanovka (Odesskaya region). Yushchenko builds ties with Poland on Odessa-Brody oil pipeline

Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko visited Warsaw yesterday and met with President Lech Kaczyñski in the Presidential Palace. The two leaders signed an agreement concerning the preparation of a feasibility study for the Odessa-Brody gas pipeline, which would limit Poland's dependence on the supply of energy from Russia. Deaths in helicopter crash near Odessa

Twelve people aboard a Ukrainian border guard helicopter that crashed in the Black Sea region have been killed, emergency officials say. One person was critically injured in Thursday's incident. According to Ihor Krol, a spokesman for the emergency situations ministry, the Mi-8 helicopter was carrying a crew of three and 10 passengers from Odessa when it crashed into shallow waters near Poludenniy Island just before noon.

The head of Ukraine's privatisation agency, who the government wants to fire, said on Monday planned sell-offs this year worth potentially billions of dollars should be suspended. Tender announced for preparation of feasibility study on Odessa-Brody pipeline

This week a board meeting of the International Pipeline Enterprise ‘Sarmatia’ took place in Warsaw. The enterprise includes five participants - PERN Przyjazn S.A., Ukrtransnafta JSC, GOGC Llc., SOCAR and AB Klaipedos Nafta.

Ukraine says Odessa refinery to start output by April

Ukraine's Odessa oil refinery, owned by Russai's second-largest oil firm LUKOIL, is likely to resume output by April 2008 after a 3-year upgrade, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Prodan said on Tuesday.
