This week a board meeting of the International Pipeline Enterprise ‘Sarmatia’ took place in Warsaw. The enterprise includes five participants - PERN Przyjazn S.A., Ukrtransnafta JSC, GOGC Llc., SOCAR and AB Klaipedos Nafta.
As a result of the meeting, a protocol was signed and several documents were approved, including technical target on preparation of a feasibility study for the project of Eurasian Oil Transport Corridor (EOTC), and an inquiry of proposals and conditions of the tender, Ukrtransnafta’ Department for Public Affairs reported.
Thus, according to the agreement reached during the energy summits in Krakow on 11 May 2007 and Vilnius on 10 October 2007, the participants to ‘Sarmatiya’ commenced tender on the selection of a creator of the future feasibility study of the project on the Odessa-Brody-Ploshk-Gdansk pipeline.
An official announcement of the tender will take place in the near future.
The idea to construct the Eurasian Oil Transport Corridor Odessa-Brody-Ploshk-Gdansk materialized in mid 1990. It envisages supplying Caspian oil to countries of Western and Central Europe.
Attended by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Lithuanian, Poland and energy representatives from Kazakhstan, the energy summit which took place in the Polish city of Krakow on 11 May 2007 made the decision to create an Inter-Governmental working group for energy affairs at the level of relevant ministries and departments.
During the energy summit in Vilnius on 10 October 2007 attended by the presidents of the five countries, an agreement on energy cooperation was signed between the Ministries of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland, as well as an agreement connecting new participants, GOGC Llc., SOCAR and AB Klaipedos Nafta to Sarmatiya.
